Bradenton is located in Florida, United States and is a city in the Manatee County. According to the U.S.Census Bureau, the population of the city was 53,471 as of 2007.
The area that is now popularly known as Bradenton was initially explored by a man named Hernando De Soto in the year 1539. The city is reported to have got its name from Dr. Joseph Braden, whose own fort house had been the abode for early dwellers. This was during the Seminole Indian attacks.
At present, whatever we see of modern Bradenton started taking shape in the year 1942. During this time the Florida Legislature had merged the cities of Bradenton and Manatee. Most of the growth, development and transformation in terms of economy and society took place post this union.
