Alaska Housing Interest Rates

There is some good news for all those first time buyers, home investors and home owners as the interest rates on homes have reduced drastically. The Alaska Housing Finance Corporation has announced exciting rate of interest and an exempt on taxes for people who are looking out to buy a house in Alaska. The AHFC has planned to charge 5% and 5.25% as interest on a loan for a period of 30 years. However the interest rates would be varied according to the loan amount applied.

It would also depend on the availability of natural gas. The better the availability of natural gas, lower will be the interest rate. The rate of interest for loans applied by people belonging to lower income group will be even low. Its main is to make housing affordable by everyone without any discrimination.

The low interest rates would be applicable for housing in Anchorage, Juneau, Fairfield and other areas of Alaska. Thus, it makes sure that the people of the entire state are able to afford a house anywhere in Alaska. This program is sure to be successful as not all are able to afford a house in Alaska. But the motive of the Alaskan government is to make housing affordable so that at least a large number of people become proud owners of homes in the state.

The housing and urban development of America also gives out similar housing schemes making it easy for the low and middle level income people to buy a house. It realizes that not everybody can pay the hefty interest rates charged by the public banks in America. That is why, Alaska housing has come forward to give out home loans at affordable interest rates.

The AHFC has offices in more than 16 cities across the state. It provides home loans for single families, multi families, for people living in the urban and rural areas. It also offers health care for the people residing in Alaska. Not only that but the Alaska housing finance corporation has also come out with the weatherization program and energy rebate program on efficient use of energy in different households. Thus, it encourages the people of Alaska to utilize energy in the best possible manner. Further, the AHFC also contributes around $100 million on an annual basis to the state government for the development of the housing sector in Alaska. Thus, the low interest rates, energy rebate option and weatherization programs are all undertaken only to enhance the housing sector in the Alaska.
