Alabama Housing Codes
Alabama housing codes are certain sections that cover different housing issues. The first section is the section 3(32) which takes care of Retirement Income Security of an Employee regulated by 1974 Act.
Alabama housing codes formed for landlords and tenants are:
- Landlord cannot demand anything excessively as security
- On termination of the housing contract the landlord must refund the unused security
- It is the landlords responsibility to keep the house in a good condition
- All the necessary items must be supplied to the house like water, heat, electricity, plumbing, air conditioning, ventilating etc
- The tenant has no right to stop the landlord from entering the house for inspection purposes
- Tenants should keep the house in good condition
- The housing contract can be terminated by both the parties on a legal notice of 14 days
- The code of conduct followed by both the parties should be according to the Alabama rules of civil procedure
- Landlord cannot discriminatingly increase the rental charges nor can stop the facilities being provided to the tenant
- However, if there is a failure of payment of rent then the landlord can retaliate after giving the tenant a grace period
According to Alabama housing codes 24 to 25 a housing authority is defined as a public body which is governed by board members and takes care that no injustice happens in the society.
Alabama housing code 24-21 takes care that no unsafe practices are being carried out near the residential areas. It constantly strives to improve the housing conditions and keep it healthy and hygienic. Alabama housing code 27 says that it has right to conduct investigations on any house in the state of AL. The codes given by the Alabama housing associations are put in to use ever since its inception.
